How it works

01

Choose your MP3

Drop it on the box or pick it from your computer or phone.

02

We transcribe it

Your browser reads the audio and sends it, compressed, to AI speech recognition. The MP3 itself is never uploaded.

03

Copy or download

Plain text, text with timestamps, or SRT and VTT subtitle files.

How to convert MP3 to text

  1. Drop your MP3 file on the box above, or press choose a file.
  2. Wait a few seconds: about 25 seconds for every 10 minutes of audio.
  3. Copy the transcript, turn timestamps on or off, or download it as TXT, SRT or VTT.

A free MP3 to text converter

Transcribe MP3 files up to 20 minutes for free, 5 a day, with no account and no watermark. With credits you can transcribe MP3s up to 2 hours. It uses Whisper speech recognition and detects the language by itself, in about 100 languages.

Your MP3 stays with you

Most MP3 transcription sites upload the whole file and keep it. Here the MP3 is read in your browser, and only a compressed copy of the audio is sent to the speech model, in 10-minute pieces. Nothing is stored: not the file, not the audio and not the transcript.

Other files

M4A voice memos, WAV recordings and the audio of videos work too: see the audio to text converter or MP4 to text. For videos already online, paste the link on the video to text converter.

Questions

How do I transcribe an MP3 file?

Drop the MP3 on the box on this page (or press choose a file). The transcript appears in a few seconds, ready to copy or download.

Is this MP3 to text converter free?

Yes. 5 files a day up to 20 minutes each, with no account. Credits from $5 remove the daily limit and allow files up to 2 hours.

Can I get the MP3 transcript with timestamps?

Yes. Timestamps are on by default, and you can download SRT or VTT subtitle files.

Do you keep my MP3?

No. The MP3 never leaves your device; only a compressed copy of its audio is sent for transcription, and nothing is stored.

Is it really free?

Yes. You get 5 free transcripts a day with no account and no watermark. If you need more, credits start at $5 for 200 transcripts, with no daily limit, videos up to 2 hours and a bulk tool for lists and whole channels. No subscription.

How accurate is the transcript?

When the video has captions we use them as they are, which is the most accurate option. When it doesn't, the audio is transcribed by AI speech recognition (Whisper), which handles accents, fast talk and background music well. Names and slang can still need a quick check.

Which languages work?

Speech-to-text works in about 100 languages and detects the language for you. Captions come in whatever language the creator or platform added.

Can I get timestamps or subtitles?

Yes. Turn on Timestamps to see the time of each line, or download the transcript as an SRT or VTT subtitle file for video editors and YouTube.

Do you store my videos?

No. We never download or keep the video. We keep the text transcript of public videos for 30 days so the next person who asks for the same video gets it instantly. Files you upload never leave your device: only their audio track is sent for transcription, and neither the audio nor the transcript is kept.

Longer MP3s, or more than 5 a day?

Credits from $5 for 200: files up to 2 hours (1 credit per 10 minutes), no daily limit, plus video links and a bulk tool. No subscription.
